About Us
DDS began with Pre-Employment Polygraph testing in 1979. Dan Stevens’ expertise in the field got the attention of many Wall Street Companies who hired him to help ensure that the information entered on the applicant’s employment application and resume were true. His interview techniques and polygraph expertise uncovered specific behaviors and elicited truth that assisted in the hiring process. His interview and Polygraph skills were also utilized in many other private and public businesses, as well as various government entities. His reputation and demeanor were key components as an expert witness in court cases for both Prosecutors and Defendants.
In 1980, Dan began a ten-year decorated career in Law Enforcement, while continuing to build the DDS brand. Between 1980 – 1983, he had the foresight to understand that Public Record investigations would eventually replace Polygraph testing for the majority of private and public organizations in the country. DDS first began utilizing Public Records as a confirmation to Polygraph results in 1982, and then began utilizing public records exclusively in the New York Tri-State area 1983.
In 1985, DDS was able to expand coverage throughout the United States via the development of the first personal computer to computer Background Screening System that allowed clients anywhere in the U.S. to transmit background screening requests and receive results via computer. That eventually lead to the development of a proprietary nation-wide network of trained Researchers to fulfill public record investigations in almost all U.S. counties. With technology, the services expanded, as did the geographical reach into international markets.
Between 2002 – 2003, Dan helped guide a handful of honorable background screening companies to consider the formulation of a national association that would help oversee the integrity of this growing industry. He sat on the steering committee that formally gave birth to the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (N.A.P.B.S.) in 2003. Since then, this association has grown to be the industry standard for information, compliance and accreditation, both nationally and internationally. Its original name has also transitioned to reflect its current global influence…“Professional Background Screening Association” (PBSA).
Through the decades, DDS has developed the reputation as “the” model of what industry integrity and service should be, and is a protective asset for many businesses wanting to utilize those standards within their pre- and post-employment due diligence process.
Although in many cases our reputation proceeds us, we work hard every day to live up to what we have achieved.
